about thea euryphaessa...
Thea Euryphaessa (pronounced, ‘yuri – feesa’) has studied the human psyche for over two decades. She started out studying body language at just 13, before pursuing psychology at college. However, the style of psychology (Cognitive) wasn’t what she anticipated and she later dropped it. Instead, she went on to study method acting – following the syllabus from Stella Adler’s renowned Studio of Acting in New York – where she explored the human psyche in a more experiential setting.
After qualifying as a life-coach and Reiki Master in her late twenties, Thea’s passion for psychology was rekindled when she was introduced to Carl G. Jung’s school of Analytical psychology and one of its offshoots, Archetypal psychology, developed largely by James Hillman. She also studies dreams, mythology – in particular, rites of passage and initiation – and Joseph Campbell’s work around the Hero’s Journey. She plans to study at The School of Spiritual Psychology in the U.S. (North Carolina) in 2011.
Among her influences she cites the work of James Hillman, Jean Shinoda Bolen, Robert Sardello, Michael Meade, James Hillman, Joseph Campbell, Mircea Eliade, Marion Woodman, Alan Watts, Robert A. Johnson, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, and Marie-Louise von Franz.
She is now working on her follow-up to ‘Running into Myself’ and the first of an inspiring series of coffee table publications entitled ‘Essence,’ under the Urban Deva pseudonym.
